VASECTOMY

A Vasectomy is a surgical procedure performed through 2 small incisions in the scrotum during which the vas deferens are divided and cut.  This procedure maybe performed under general or local anaesthetic. A vasectomy is performed in order to stop the passage of sperm from the testicles to achieve permanent contraception but is not an absolute guarantee. 

 

You should be aware of other alternative forms of birth control such as oral contraceptive pill, condoms and female sterilisation.
